Port Miller is a settlement/space station orbiting Neptune. One of the early mining boomtowns of the 2087 Kuiper Gold Rush, Port Miller was at one point, one of the largest cities of the Kuiper Belt. One of the earliest stations near the outermost Kuiper Belt, during the dawn of the Space Age, Port Miller served as a rest stop and home for many miners, traders, and sailors in search of a fortune in the nearby asteroid mines. Within a year of its construction, Port Miller had a bowling alley, fourteen casinos, and numerous bars, dance halls, and restaurants. As of 2126, most of the businesses had been permanently closed, following the Economic Crisis of 2109.

History

Cordelia Miller, a British entrepreneur, inventor, and engineer, founded Kuiper Industries (formerly named “Miller Technologies”) in 2976. During its earliest days, Miller Technologies primarily specialized in manufacturing spare parts for spacecraft and industrial equipment. In the early 2080s, colonization of the outer Kuiper Belt began, and by 2085, there were already two notable orbiting settlements around Neptune. It was in 2081 that Cordelia Miller invented the “Miller mining disintegrator”, a more powerful form of the disintegrator, which, formally commonly used as an alternate form of firearm instead of the older bullet-powered firearms. After the invention of the Miller mining disintegrator, Miller jumped into the mining industry, and in 2088 received approval from the UCLO government to construct the then-largest orbiting settlement around Neptune. Port Miller finished construction in 2089, and within a year, became one of the most populous settlements in the outer Kuiper Belt.
